In a row of five children A, B, C, D and E, who is standing in the middle ?

Statements:

1. D is to the immediate right of E and B is to the immediate left of E.

2. B is at the extreme left of the, row.

  • A.1 alone is sufficient while 2 alone is not sufficient
  • B.2 alone is sufficient while 1 alone is not sufficient
  • C.Neither 1 nor 2 is sufficient
  • D.Both 1 and 2 are sufficient

Answer: D

From 1, we have the order: B, E, D.

From 2, B is at the extreme left of the row.

Thus, considering both 1 and 2, we conclude that among the five children, D is the third and hence the middle child in the row.
